The Tomorrowland Transit Authority (or TTA for short), offers a relaxing ten minute tour throughout Tomorrowland. Your futuristic cars are powered by a system of linear reduction motors, giving you a smooth and relaxing ride.

After riding a steep, moving ramp up the center of Rockettower Plaza, you’ll be able to climb aboard the continuously moving cars to start your journey. Once you clear the loading platform your car picks up speed to whisk you on your way.

The TTA is a great way to get an overview of Tomorrowland, with sneak peeks at the Buzz Lightyear and Mickey’s Star Traders. But the highlight is surely the trip through Space Mountain. If you’re not sure if you’re up for the thrills of Space Mountain, the TTA is a great way to check it out.

Along the way you’ll also see and hear from some Tomorrowland residents, and you’ll also get to catch a glimpse of the original model for EPCOT, Walt Disney’s vision of the city of the future!

Magical Moments

  • The TTA is a long, slow, relaxing ride, and because it’s rarely busy it’s also one of the best kept secrets in the Magic Kingdom.
  • Listen for the announcements as you travel through Tomorrowland. Especially memorable is the page for “Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow” (get it?).
  • One of the first things you’ll see is the original model for the city of Epcot as envisioned by Walt Disney (just imagine what it would have been like to live there!).
  • If you can time it right, seeing the fireworks go off while you’re on the TTA is an experience you’ll never forget!
  • You’ll pass right through Space Mountain where you can (barely) see and hear the spaceships race through the inky blackness of outer space.
  • Rarely, (very rarely), you might go through Space Mountain when the lights are on! That is truly an amazing sight, though you view it at your own peril (you may never see Space Mountain the same way again). If you don’t want to see it just hide your eyes (but if you do look take a peek at the ground to see all of the items that people have dropped!).

  • Keep an eye out for a futuristic scene showing a woman getting her hair done. Look at her belt buckle!

Did You Know...?

  • The TTA is powered by 629 electromagnets that form the linear induction system. Through a carefully times sequence of pulses, the electromagnets people the cars of the TTA smoothly and quietly along the track.
  • The track itself is 5,484 feet long, over a mile in length.
  • The Disney company was consulted by the Houston Intercontinental Airport in 1981 to install a TTA-type transit system there to help accommodate their huge traffic requirements.
  • The Tomorrowland Transit Authority is also called the Blue Line.

Touring Tips

  • The TTA is a great way to get an overview of the Tomorrowland attractions—you’ll even go inside Space Mountain (that will give you a chance to see if you’re up for the challenge). If you’re visiting Tomorrowland for the first time, this should definitely be your first stop.
  • In addition to being an enjoyable ride unto itself, the TTA is a great way to pass the time if you’re waiting for your FastPass+ time to arrive for a nearby attraction.
  • Ride the TTA at night to get an extra special view of Tomorrowland in the dark. You’ll also get some wonderful glimpses of Cinderella Castle.
  • If you don’t like riding backwards be sure to sit on the appropriate side of the car when you board.
  • Because this attraction is rarely busy, you can usually go for another ride when you reenter the station—just ask the Cast Member if you can stay on!
  • The TTA is also a great way to pass the time during a brief Florida shower. There’s something extra magical about the TTA in a light rain…!
