What better way to enjoy the magic of Star Wars than with a relaxing ride to the forest moon of Endor. Of course, what you’re in for is anything but relaxing…
Your (accidental) pilot is C-3P0, and before you take off the Empire conducts a search of your ship for a wanted rebel spy (perhaps it’s you!).

As you leave the space station (barely), you’re in for few bumps and jolts as C-3P0 makes a few wrong turns and puts you right in the middle of an epic space battle! Quick…let’s make that jump to lightspeed! You’ll soon arrive at your first destination before getting a message from one of your favorite Star Wars characters. Before you know it though, it’s off to hyperspace again and the next stop on your tour, until finally C-3P0 figures out how to pilot your ship and returns you to safety.

Magical Moments

  • As you approach Star Tours, you’ll find a giant Imperial Walker looming in front of you! For everyone who grew up watching the Star Wars films, seeing the Walker looking down upon you is a dream (well, bad dream!) come true. You’ll also find a speeder bike that you can get your picture taken on, a replica of a Tatooine homestead, and an Ewok village.
  • Much of the fun of Star Tours is never knowing where you’ll end up next! Your destinations and character cameo are never the same twice!
  • The queue area winds through a variety of scenes that will make you feel like you’re actually in the Star Wars universe. You’ll even see C-3PO and R2-D2!
  • Be prepared for one last misadventure as you return from your mission…!

Hidden Mickeys & Other Secrets

  • During the preshow video, you’ll be instructed on the loading procedure for your vehicle. Keep an eye out for the Ewok, he’s holding a small plush Mickey!
  • The StarSpeeder 1000 has several blast marks, one of which is a Hidden Mickey.
  • In the queue area, you’ll hear a page for someone named Egroeg Sacul. If that doesn’t make any sense, check out what the name is when you spell it backwards…
  • In the queue area, listen for a page for “Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow”.

Did You Know...?

  • Why is the current StarSpeeder numbered 1000, when in the original version of Star Tours it was numbered 3000? Shouldn’t it be higher? Well, with the inclusion of many new scenes that established the timeline for this attraction as taking place before the events of the original Star Tours, the ship was “back-numbered” accordingly!
  • Star Tours randomly combines different scenes and characters, meaning Guests can ride the attraction multiple times without ever experiencing the same adventure twice. Indeed, much of the fun is in seeing which characters and locations will pop up next, and many fans will ride numerous times in order to “collect” the experiences. Altogether, there are more than 50 possible ride scenarios. (How many have you seen?)
  • In case you were wondering, the 1401 flight number came from the number of the street address for Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California.
  • For those of you who may be nostalgic for the original Captain Rex, he can still be found in the attraction. Since the events of the new attraction predate those of the original, Rex is not yet a pilot, but he can be found in the pre-show security area called “Droid Customs,” being “returned to sender” for defects, which actually explains a lot for those who enjoyed the original attraction.

Touring Tips

  • You must be 40″ to ride. Star Tours is a flight simulator style attraction. People susceptible to motion sickness may experience discomfort on this ride. It’s tamer than Body Wars was (another simulator style attraction in Epcot that is no longer open), and definitely a lot tamer than Mission: SPACE (well, the Orange Team at least). You will get bounced around and jolted as your shuttle rocks back and forth, if you have back problems or other medical conditions you’ll want to be extra cautious.
  • This is a FastPass+ attraction, though you can usually ride early in the day without much of a wait. If lines are longer than 20 minutes then consider using FastPass.
  • Many people find the seats towards the rear to be a bit rougher than those in the front. If you’d like to be seated accordingly (based on your preference), just ask a cast member. They’ll be happy to honor your request.
  • At the conclusion of the ride, you’ll exit into a large gift shop filled with all sorts of Star Wars memorabilia (including some rare items). It’s a must visit for any Star Wars fan (you can visit the gift shop without riding).
  • Have you always dreamed of becoming a Jedi? Now’s your chance! You can take on the fearsome Dark Lord of the Sith at the Jedi Training Academy. During scheduled performances throughout the day, young Padawan hopefuls can line up in front of the stage to the left of the entrance to Star Tours. If the force is with you, a wise Jedi master will select you to participate in the show (it helps to be VERY enthusiastic!!). He will then show you some basic light saber moves (don’t worry, the ones you’ll be provided with are the training kind, no worries of accidentally lopping off a fellow trainee’s hands!). After you’ve mastered the basics, Darth Vader himself appears, flanked by a pair of stormtroopers! His mission? To turn you to the Dark Side of course. One by one you’ll square off against the Dark Lord, clashing light sabers and ducking his swings (it’s all very carefully choreographed so don’t fret). Vader will occasionally offers his own words of “encouragement” (“Impressive”, “All too easy…”), and taunt the audience with his powerful force choke. In the end, the force ghost of Yoda will tell Vader that his efforts have been futile, and the younglings are now full-fledged Padawans, ready to embrace the force and become true Jedi. Defeated, Darth Vader dejectedly marches away, leaving his stormtroopers behind for a hilarious exit.
  • The Jedi Training Academy has regular shows throughout the day, be sure to check the posted schedule (wannabee pirates can also clash swords with Jack Sparrow in a similar show at the Pirates of the Caribbean!).
