Lined with charming shops and eateries, Main Street leads to Cinderella Castle and the central hub, where you can take different paths leading to the various lands of the kingdom. Main Street was inspired by the turn of the century small towns like the kind where Walt Disney grew up. Walking down Main Street, with the majesty of Cinderella Castle towering overhead, is the perfect blend of nostalgia and fantasy—the ideal beginning to your stay in the Magic Kingdom!

Magical Moments

  • There probably is no moment more magical than passing underneath the Main Street Station and emerging onto Main Street for the very first time. The sight of Cinderella Castle rising majestically at the end of Main Street is a thrill you’ll never forget. You know right away that this is truly a place where dreams do come true!
  • Main Street takes on a magical, carnival-like atmosphere at night. Each building is lit with hundreds of brilliant white lights (and of course you’ll also see Cinderella Castle change colors throughout the evening).
  • During the holidays Main Street comes alive with the Christmas spirit. Ornaments, wreaths and Christmas lights are everywhere, and there’s a giant Christmas tree in the front oval. (If you visit during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party you’ll even see it snow!)

Hidden Mickeys & Other Secrets

  • Look at the sidewalk near Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. You’ll see that Lady and the Tramp wrote their names in the wet cement.
  • You’ll find a Hidden Mickey in the bridle gear worn by the horses that pull the trolley car up and down Main Street.

Did You Know...?

  • You may notice that the sidewalks in Town Square and the central hub have a red tinge to them. This is done to enhance the green of the grass. Why red? Green and red are complimentary colors, and therefore provide the strongest contrast to each other.
  • The “Tony” in Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is none other than Tony from Lady and the Tramp, the italian chef who serves them their infamous spaghetti dinner.
  • The “Partners” statue and the statue of Roy Disney with Minnie Mouse were both created by Blaine Gibson, with lots of conceptual assistance from the many people who worked with them. Blaine Gibson also sculpted all of the presidents featured in the Hall of Presidents.

Touring Tips

  • Shopping and eating aren’t the only things you can do on Main Street. If you need a haircut, you can visit the Harmony Barber Shop for a quick trim. You might even be treated to a show by the Dapper Dans, an authentic barbershop quartet!
  • Instead of walking down Main Street, you can ride! Hop on a fire engine, a horseless carriage or one of the trolleys that go back and forth all day.
  • Main Street is a prime location for viewing parades and fireworks shows. Crowds form early, though, so be sure to arrive an hour or so before showtime to get a good spot.
  • You’ll find a Tip Board as you approach Cinderella Castle, this will tell you the wait times for all of the attractions in the park. It’s located on the left side of Main Street just before the central hub.
  • In the central hub you’ll find the statue of Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney holding hands called “Partners”. It’s a favorite picture spot, especially with Cinderella Caste rising majestically behind it. When you walk past, be sure you don’t inadvertently get in someone else’s picture!
