The world’s largest continent is also the most mysterious, and is you explore this exotic land you’ll find a variety of rarely seen animals, including komodo dragons, tigers and giant bats. With the addition of Expedition: Everest, Asia is also home to some of the most exciting attractions in the Animal Kingdom.

Magical Moments

  • The pathway leading to Africa is very tranquil and lined with lush foliage. You’ll also get some great views of the Tree of Life in the distance.
  • As you cross the bridge into Asia, keep an eye out for the ruins of an ancient temple on the water’s edge. The setting as eerily mystical and is the perfect introduction to the exotic land of Anandapur.

Hidden Mickeys & Other Secrets

  • When you enter the village of Anandapur from the bridge to Africa, look for the “Welcome to Anandapur” sign. One of the carved flowers in the border is missing some petals, forming a Hidden Mickey.
  • As you enter Asia look for the white-cheeked gibbon habitat on your right. On the island there is a gourd hanging from a tree with a hole forming a Hidden Mickey. You’ll have to squint, It’s fairly obscure!

Did You Know...?

  • “Anandapur” means “City of Delights” (or “place of delights”) in Sanskrit, one of the oldest Indo-European languages in the world.
  • It took over 120 artists more than 5 months to create the four murals that honor the former rulers of the mystical land of Anandapur.
  • The artifacts here are inspired by the architecture of India Nepal, Thailand and Indonesia.

Touring Tips

  • If you love birds, be sure to catch the outdoor show, UP! A Great Bird Adventure! Join Wilderness Explorer Russell and his furry friend Dug in this fun-filled show. As Russell ventures out to earn his Bird Badge, he and Dug find themselves in the village of Anandapur where they meet the lively Troop Leader Jones, who teaches them about bird species from around the world.
  • As you enter the Anandapur village, look for the island on your right that’s home to the white-cheeked gibbons.
  • In addition to the exotic sights, you’ll also hear many unfamiliar sounds. See if you can hear the distinctive howl of the gibbon. In particular, you may hear the hoots of the Siamang, a member of the gibbon family (and the loudest of all land animals).
  • In addition to the bridge leading to Discovery Island, there is a bridge that connects Asia directly with DinoLand U.S.A. (you’ll find it past Expedition Everest as walk along the river).
  • Make sure to catch the Bollywood Beats, performing throughout the day. Their jubilant, musical show includes everything from the classical melodies of Kathak and the proud folk stylings of Bhangra, to the lively rhythms of modern Bollywood movie musicals.
