As you enter the theater, you’ll really feel like your underwater! Before the show begins you’ll find yourself in darkness, with a cool sea mist and a gentle breeze adding to the under-the-sea illusion. The show begins with Sebastian and 100 ocean friends singing “Under the Sea”, and soon you’ll meet Ariel, Eric, and the evil sea witch, Ursula. Memorable songs, spectacular effects, film excerpts and live performance all blend to create a magical show that faithfully recreates one of the most beloved films of all time.

Magical Moments

  • The visual effects are quite enchanting and make you feel as if you’re at the bottom of the sea. The opening of the show is especially magical as a curtain of sea mist and a cool breeze usher in the appearance of Sebastian and friends welcoming you with the song “Under the Sea”.
  • The appearance of the giant Ursula is one of the highlights of the show (if you thought she was menacing in the movie wait until you her in real life!).

  • At the start of the show, keep an eye out for the lasers. They’ll form a brief Hidden Mickey right before your eyes.

  • Ursula is actually a giant puppet measuring 12 feet tall and 10 feet wide.
  • Ariel was once played by the actress Leanza Cornett, who eventually became Miss America in 1993. She also went on to host Entertainment Tonight in 1994 and has guest starred on Melrose Place./li>

Touring Tips

  • This is a FastPass+ attraction. If wait times are longer than 20 minutes you might consider using one. One thing to be mindful of, the return time window is only 10 minutes (not the usual hour for other attractions). Keep that in mind so you can plan your arrival accordingly.
  • The stage is elevated which might it harder for smaller children to see. Try to sit towards the middle and rear of the theater if that’s the case.
  • Some of the sound effects (not to mention the frightful appearance of Ursula the sea witch) may frighten younger children.
