From here you can journey to the different lands of the Animal Kingdom by crossing one of the many bridges. But don’t pass through too quickly, Discovery Island has lots of places to explore and exotic sights to see.

On your way to Discovery Island from the Animal Kingdom entrance, you’ll pass through the Discovery Island Trails. A maze of pathways lined with lush foliage and a variety of tropical plants and flowers lead you to Discovery Island and the rest of the Animal Kingdom.

  • Discovery Island is filled with hidden treasures that most people overlook as they head for the big attractions. If you love animals, you’ll find lots to see throughout Discovery Island.

Hidden Mickeys & Other Secrets

  • In Pizzafari, look for the leopard in the mural on the wall and see if you can find the Hidden Mickey concealed in his spots.

Did You Know...?

  • 27 million gallons of water flow in the river surrounding the island.
  • Nearly 1,500 hand-painted wooden animal carvings (each just under three feet long) can be found throughout Safari Village. They were carved by native craftsmen on the island of Bali, inspired by pre-Columbian, Peruvian, African and Polynesian art forms.

  • Bridges to the various lands in the Animal Kingdom emanate from Discovery Island, which serves as the central hub for the park. Due to the size of Discovery Island however, it may not be obvious which way to go if you are heading for a particular land. Don’t worry, there are lots of signposts to help you on your way!
