Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, where wishes really do come true! From fairy tale dreams to far away adventures, the Magic Kingdom offers something for everyone.

As you enter the Magic Kingdom, you’ll pass underneath the Main Street Station, (where you can board the Walt Disney Railroad for a quick tour of the park), and onto Main Street itself. Cinderella Castle rises majestically in the distance, and it is here that you will find the central hub, with pathways leading to the various lands of the Kingdom.

Magical Moments

  • You can live out all of your dreams at the Magic Kingdom! You be an astronaut, a pirate, a princess, or journey to the worlds of your favorite Disney films! Your journey begins on Main Street U.S.A., and from there you can venture to the various lands in the park:
    Adventureland: Home to exotic jungles, Arabian deserts and Caribbean adventures.
    Frontierland: Rootin’s tootin’ thrills right out of the old west.
    Liberty Square: Explore Colonial America (and a spooky mansion too!).
    Fantasyland: Immerse yourself in the magic and imagination of Walt Disney.
    Tomorrowland: Thrilling adventures in the world of the future.
  • The Magic Kingdom is the crown jewel of the Walt Disney World Resort, full of classic attractions, exotic adventures and futuristic thrills. So grab a little pixie dust and let your imagination run wild!

Did You Know...?

  • An extensive network of tunnels runs beneath the Magic Kingdom. These tunnels, called Utilidors, house the different maintenance and storage facilities that keep the Magic Kingdom running smoothly, and also allow Cast Members to get from one section of the park to another. The concept of the Utilidors was partly inspired by an incident in Disneyland. Walt Disney saw a Frontierland employee in costume walking through Tomorrowland (it was the only way the Cast Member could get from the dressing area to Frontierland). Realizing that a cowboy walking through Tomorrowland ruined the setting, he knew that a better way of getting Cast Members to the various areas of the park was required.
  • The Utilidors and maintenance areas were actually built atop the park’s foundation (not underground). The buildings were then back filled and construction of the Magic Kingdom took place on top of that. This means that the Magic Kingdom that guests see above-pavement is actually the second and third stories of a larger building (Fantasyland is at a higher elevation than the rest of the Magic Kingdom and is thus on the third story).
  • Walt Disney passed away in 1966 before construction of the Magic Kingdom began. His brother Roy came out of retirement to see to it that Walt’s dreams were made a reality. He even insisted that the project be renamed Walt Disney World (as opposed to just Disney World), so that everyone would remember the inspiration behind the magic.
  • Roy Disney was just as integral to the success of Disney as his brother. While Walt brought his vision and imagination to the company, Roy’s keen sense of business was vital to bringing Walt’s dreams to life. Roy himself passed away in 1971, mere months after the Magic Kingdom opened. A statue of Roy sharing a bench with Minnie Mouse can be found at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom in Town Square.

Touring Tips

  • The most important tip is to enjoy the magic. Part of that begins with the planning of your trip, but once you’re there, remember to let yourself be immersed in the fantasy. The Magic Kingdom has so much to offer besides the attractions. Take time to explore the different lands and to enjoy the little things. Don’t be in such a hurry to get from point A to point B, there’s so much more to see in between!
  • Of course, the attractions are the big draw, and you will want to experience as many of them as you can. To enable you to visit the attractions you want without getting caught up in rigid timetables and frantic scurrying, try the following tips:
    • Visit the headliner attractions during less busy times to avoid long waits. Good times to visit are first thing in the morning and during parades or shows.
    • Take advantage of FastPass+ whenever you can. A good rule of thumb is to use FastPass if the standby wait time is more than 20 minutes. While you’re waiting for your FastPass time to arrive, visit some of the less crowded attractions or do some exploring.
    • Visit during Extra Magic Hours so you can ride the major attractions as often as you like with little or no wait (it’s also a great time to experience the magic of the park).
    • If you are staying for several days, don’t try to cram too much into a single day. Spread yourself out so you can take your time and enjoy everything the Magic Kingdom has to offer.
  • If your time allows, take a break in the middle of the day. Not only does this allow you to avoid the busiest time of day when crowds are the largest, it will give you a chance to experience more of the magic that Walt Disney World has to offer. Visit one of the deluxe resorts for lunch, or take a swim at your resort’s pool. By the time you get back to the park, you’ll be refreshed and ready for an evening of fun!
  • Getting to the Magic Kingdom can be half the fun. Take a monorail ride and visit the Magic Kingdom resorts, or enjoy a boat ride across Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.
  • Another strategy to avoid the crowds is to do everything at the “wrong time”. For example, eat lunch at eleven and dinner at three. You’ll avoid the mealtime crush at the restaurants and also be able to enjoy the parks while everyone else is eating. You can also leave early to avoid the crowd of people trying to leave the park at day’s end. If you watch the evening fireworks, hang around and let the crowds jostle their way out of the park. You can wander around for a while, soaking up the nighttime ambience of the Magic Kingdom, and then leave after the crowds have thinned a bit.
