Located in an uncharted region beyond all known star systems, the planet is home to Black Spire Outpost, an infamous port for smugglers, traders and adventurers wishing to avoid any unnecessary entanglements with the First Order. Black Spire is one of the busiest regions in Batuu, and has been serving the planet since before the development of hyperspace travel.
When guests arrive at Black Spire Outpost, they will come across aliens, droids and other inhabitants of this planet as they search for rare and unique goods, discover unusual food and drink, or join a crew seeking adventures. Along the way, guests may encounter some familiar faces, including Rey, Chewbacca or even Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers.

Magical Moments

  • While visiting Batuu, you’ll meet a variety of interesting characters, from the vendors in the bazaar to the First Order Stormtroopers who patrol the streets. There are a few individuals you are likely already familiar with. It’s not unusual to see Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, or even Darth Vader in Batuu.
  • During your stay, it will be helpful if you know how to talk like a local. Here are a few phrases and terms to remember:
    • Bright Suns!: A greeting used during the day. It’s the equivalent of an Earth ‘Hello!’
    • Rising Moons!: Like ‘Bright Suns,’ this is a greeting, but one that is used at night.
    • Ignite the Spark: A greeting among members of the Resistance
    • Light the Fire: The proper response to ‘Ignite the Spark.’
    • ‘Til The Spires: On one level, this simply means ‘Goodbye.’ Also used symbolically as a rallying cry.
    • May the Spires Keep You: A more formal way of saying ‘goodbye.’
    • Good Journey: An informal goodbye.
    • Only the Ancients Know: a phrase which means ‘I Don’t Know.’
    • For the Order: A statement of support for the First Order.
    • Padawan: A young Jedi apprentice, or any young child visiting Batuu.
    • Youngling: A child.
    • Travelers: Visitors from outside Batuu
    • Youngling Transport: A stroller
    • Refreshers: restrooms
    • Hydrator: A drinking fountain
    • Datapad: A mobile phone
    • Credits: Money
  • One of Black Spire Outpost’s most distinctive attractions is the bazaar, known as Merchant Row, where vendors offer a variety of goods. This area is always a hustle and bustle of travelers. You can purchase toys for younglings at the Toydarian Toy Maker, owned by Zabaka, a female Toydarian. You can adopt a rare animal at The Creature Stall, which is run by Bina. Outside of the stall you can find an extension of the shop offering adoptions of Kowakian monkey-lizards. Other shops include Jewels of Bith, Black Spire Outfitters, and Kat Saka’s Kettle.

Hidden Mickeys & Other Secrets

  • You’ll find blaster marks throughout Galaxy’s Edge, and several form a couple of Hidden Mickeys in the area surrounding Docking Bay 7.
  • Keep an eye out for a green speeder with some letters written in Aurebesh (the Star Wars language) on its side. Translated, those letters read “LMA,” a reference to “Lights, Motors, Action!”, the attraction that used to occupy this location of the park.

Did You Know...?

  • The music you hear throughout Galaxy’s Edge is a suite of all-new John Williams-composed themes written especially for the land, as well as a collection of original cantina songs created by composers and songwriters from around the globe.
  • The DJ in Oga’s Cantina is none other than R-3X, otherwise known as Rex, the former Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from the original Star Tours.
  • Batuu sits out the outer edge of the galaxy, and has long functioned as a sort of frontier gateway. Beyond Batuu, travelers will find themselves in Wild Space, the unmapped regions which hold the realm of Mortis and planets like Thune, Agaris, and Lira San.

Touring Tips

  • Yes, you can get Blue Milk in Batuu! Look for the Bubo Wamba Family Farms kiosk in the heart of Galaxy’s Edge to try this one of a kind treat. Well, almost one of a kind, you can try Green Milk too!
  • You can build your very own light saber at Savi’s Workshop. Here you have the opportunity to craft and customize your lightsabers, choosing between four different types of light sabers:
    • Peace and Justice: made from scraps of fallen Jedi Temples and starships.
    • Power and Control: a Sith model.
    • Elemental Nature: using items like Rancor tooth and Cartusian whale bones in the hilt.
    • Protection and Defense: which has arcane figures carved into it.
  • Visit the Droid Depot to build and purchase your very own astromech droids. Pick pieces off a conveyor belt to build one of two core models (R-series or BB-series) , then customize your droids with various parts and colors. These droids can even interact with elements throughout the land, enhancing your adventures.
  • Enjoy exotic beverages at Oga’s Cantina, where guests gather to share their tales from around the galaxy. Try the Fuzzy Tauntaun! Or if you prefer, you can get their own version of Blue Milk, the Blue Bantha…which is chilled Blue Milk served with Bantha-inspired Vanilla-Butter Sugar Cookie. Yum!
  • Hungry? Head on over to Docking Bay 7, where can sit inside the spacious hanger, or grab a table in the rustic outdoor seating area surrounded by the crumbling walls of the old marketplace. You can try the Batuuan Beef Pot Roast or the local favorite, Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip!
  • You can also visit Ronto Roasters, famed for its podracing engine that fires up a barbecue pit where mouth-watering Ronto Wraps are cooked!
