The theming around Echo Lake pays homage to the early films of Hollywood, with Min and Bill's Dockside Diner being named after two characters played by Marie Dressler and Wallace Beery in the 1930 film "Min and Bill".

Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Creams of Extinction is a tribute to pioneer animator Winsor McCay and his 1914 ground-breaking cartoon, Gertie the Dinosaur. The actual building is also reminiscent of the California Crazy roadside architecture that was popular at the time.
