You must be 44"
tall to ride Space Mountain. The ride is fast
and is full of jarring turns and sudden drops
(important to keep in mind if you have back
problems or other health issues).
Because this is one
of the most popular attractions in the Magic
Kingdom (and also because it's slow loading),
you'll want to take advantage of FastPass to
avoid a long wait.
When you approach
the end of the queue area the line splits off
into two, leading to loading areas on the right
and left that correspond to the two separate
tracks. While the tracks are very similar, some
people find the right track a bit rougher.
If you want to sit
in the front, just ask! The cast members will
have you step to the side (if necesary) to wait
for the next car.
As with most roller
coasters, the secret to not feeling bounced around
so much is to not hang on too tight. If you let
yourself "go with the flow" the turns and drops
won't be quite so bad! Of course, that's easier
said than done, especially when you're hurtling
through the pitch blackness of outer space...
Hang on to your hats...literally!
It's easy to drop loose objects during the ride,
so be sure to secure any caps, handbags or loose
fitting glasses.
Space Mountain is
open during Extra Magic Hours. This is a great
time to tour as often as you'd like.
